NUTRITIOUS SNACKS FOR MAMAS

TOASTED ALMOND, GOJI, HEMP & CACAO BLISS BALLS

An easy & nourishing snack to eat on the go, great for new mamas; perfect for anyone with a busty lifestyle.

For our in-person workshop participants we created this recipe packed with nutrients and a little bit of buzz. This recipe is great for most constitutions as the ingredients are finely ground. Almonds are featured but if that’s not your nut of choice theres no need to despair - see our tips for mixing the base options at the end of this page.

Why we love this recipe: Cacao for buzz and magnesium, Goji berries for vitamin C boost, Hemp seeds for extra protein, Toasted Almond for the smoky nutty flavour. You can alter amounts of these to increase the elements you need and the flavour palette you desire, but heres our desired mix…

Toasted Almond, Goji, Cacao & Hemp Balls

INGREDIENTS:

400G Toasted Almonds

120G Goji Berries

80G Desiccated Coconut

50G Hemp Seeds

1-2 Tablespoon Cacao

4 Tbsp Coconut Oil

Agave Syrup

Put aside a handful of desiccated coconut to roll & cover balls in at the end.

Makes 16-20 bliss balls

METHOD:

Melt the coconut oil if it's not liquid by briefly warming on stove, do not over heat.

In a food processor blend the dry ingredients.

Add agave syrup to sweeten if desired.

Add coconut oil in batches to create a 'sticky' consistency.

After forming balls, roll in desiccated coconut and pop in fridge in a container or on a tray to set for an hour.

OPTIONS!

You can experiment with raw ball ingredients, substitute the nuts for others - cashews, pistachios, hazelnuts, brasil nuts and so on (our new blog recipes feature amazing combinations for bliss & protein balls). Always use a combination that your tastebuds & gut instinct prefers.

Nutrients that are important for new mamas include good fats, magnesium, iron, zinc, folate & vitamin D. Bliss balls are the perfect addition during the day to top up with extra doses of these nutrients found in ingredients such as cacao, hemp seeds, pepitas, sunflower seeds, coconut, goji berries, red dates, black dates & medjool.
